Full product description

The RIX LPR L6R is a 640×512 thermal rifle scope with a 50mm F0.9 lens, <12 mK NETD sensitivity, 3–9× optical magnification, and an adjustable laser rangefinder rated to 2,187 yards. Built-in environmental sensors feed its onboard ballistic calculator.

For coyote, hog, and predator hunters working open fields and agricultural ground, the LPR L6R brings thermal imaging, distance measurement, and ballistic support into one rifle-mounted optic. Its 3× base magnification gives you useful image scale for observing animals across a field, while FlexZoom optical and digital controls let you adjust magnification from the eyepiece. A magnesium-alloy body, replaceable batteries, and an included quick-detach Picatinny mount round out the package.

Adjustable laser ranging that aligns with your reticle

A ranging box and a zeroed reticle can occupy different points in a thermal scope's display. The LPR L6R addresses that with a mechanically adjustable laser rangefinder. Its top and side adjustment screws let you align the ranging point with your reference zeroing profile, using a visible green laser as a calibration aid.

Once configured, the reference profile lets you range using the reticle center, reducing the need to shift between separate ranging and aiming points. The rangefinder supports single and continuous measurements, with a manufacturer-rated maximum of 2,000 meters / 2,187 yards and stated accuracy of ±1 meter. Alignment depends on calibration and the selected zeroing profile.

FlexZoom: 3–9× optical magnification plus digital zoom

The LPR L6R combines an eyepiece optical zoom lever with a separate digital zoom knob in the same control area. Optical magnification runs from 3× to 9×, while digital zoom provides a 1× to 4× multiplier. A physical lock helps prevent unintended digital zoom adjustments during movement.

The optical adjustment magnifies the displayed image through the eyepiece lens group. It does not increase the thermal sensor's resolution or change the objective lens into a variable-focal-length lens. Digital zoom enlarges the captured image electronically, so image detail and field of view still matter as you increase magnification.

640 thermal imaging with <12 mK sensitivity

The 640×512, 12-micron VOx thermal sensor pairs with a 50mm F0.9 objective and a 50 Hz refresh rate. NETD below 12 mK means the detector is rated to distinguish small temperature differences, a useful characteristic when animals and their surroundings have similar thermal contrast. Our guide to NETD and thermal sensitivity explains how this specification fits alongside resolution, lens performance, and image processing.

ClarityX imaging combines RIX image processing, AI-assisted processing, and enhanced RET technology to improve displayed detail and target separation. Sun/Rain weather modes let you adapt processing to conditions. Performance still depends on weather, distance, focus, and the scene. Image enhancement cannot guarantee identification or recover every detail.

A large 2560×2560 AMOLED display

The LPR L6R uses a 1.03-inch AMOLED display with 2560×2560 resolution, presenting the thermal image and aiming information through an eyepiece with 50mm eye relief. The diopter adjusts from −5D to +5D. Display resolution describes the screen; the thermal detector remains 640×512.

Environmental inputs for onboard ballistics

Built-in temperature, humidity, and barometric-pressure sensors supply local environmental inputs to the onboard ballistic calculator. Together with measured distance and your configured ballistic profile, these inputs help the scope calculate a drop correction for changing conditions.

The LPR L6R supports five zeroing profiles. Environmental readings require several minutes to stabilize. Confirm your ammunition data, zero, and calculated holds on the range before relying on a profile in the field.

Replaceable batteries and a magnesium-alloy body

A removable 21700 battery powers the scope, and the included adapter sleeve lets you use a compatible 18650 battery. RIX rates runtime at 5.5 hours under its stated test conditions; temperature, battery condition, and feature use affect actual runtime. A 5V USB-C connection supports external power.

The magnesium-alloy body weighs approximately 2.01 lb / 912 g without the battery, according to RIX's supplied specifications. The scope uses a 30mm tube and includes a quick-detach Picatinny mount. IP67 protection and a stated 1000 g / 6000 J recoil rating support field use.

Recording and connectivity

Capture 1280×1280 MP4 video to the scope's 64GB internal memory. Wi-Fi connectivity and RIX app support provide access to connected functions and firmware updates. Recorded-video resolution is separate from both sensor and display resolution.

Who is the RIX LPR L6R best for?

The LPR L6R is a strong fit for hunters working open fields, pastures, and agricultural ground who want 640-resolution thermal imaging, 3× base magnification, integrated laser ranging, and environmental inputs for ballistics.

If you primarily hunt tight cover, compare its 3× base magnification and 8.8° horizontal field of view with a lower-magnification optic. If your main need is scanning and observing, consider a dedicated handheld thermal. Our complete thermal scope buying guide can help you match the optic to your terrain and hunting distances.

Frequently asked questions

What is the RIX LPR L6R best for?

The LPR L6R is a strong fit for coyote, hog, and predator hunters working open fields and agricultural ground who want 3× base magnification, 640-resolution thermal imaging, and integrated ranging. Hunters primarily working tight cover may prefer a lower-base-magnification optic with a wider field of view.

Is the LPR L6R the same scope as the LEAP L6R?

No. The LPR L6R is a separate model. RIX's supplied comparison highlights <12 mK NETD, adjustable laser ranging to 2,187 yards, a 2560×2560 AMOLED display, environmental sensors, and 21700 battery compatibility as changes from the earlier LEAP generation. Read our LPR L6R versus LEAP L6R comparison for a closer look.

How far can the RIX LPR L6R range and detect?

RIX rates the laser rangefinder to 2,187 yards and thermal detection to 2,843 yards. These describe different functions. Neither rating establishes the distance at which an animal can be confidently identified or a shot should be taken.

What does adjustable LRF alignment mean?

The rangefinder module has mechanical adjustments that let you align its ranging point with the reticle of a reference zeroing profile. This requires calibration. When using other profiles, the displayed ranging box can differ from the reticle position.

Does the LPR L6R have optical or digital zoom?

It has both. FlexZoom provides 3–9× eyepiece optical magnification and a separate 1–4× digital multiplier. Optical magnification enlarges the display through the eyepiece; digital zoom enlarges the captured image electronically. Native thermal sensor resolution remains 640×512.

Does the ballistic calculator use local weather measurements?

Yes. The LPR L6R includes temperature, humidity, and barometric-pressure sensors. When enabled, their readings supply environmental inputs to the onboard ballistic calculator. It also needs your configured ballistic profile and confirmed zero.

What batteries does the RIX LPR L6R use?

It uses a replaceable 21700 battery and supports compatible 18650 batteries with the included adapter sleeve. Two 21700 batteries are included. Manufacturer-rated runtime is 5.5 hours, and 5V USB-C external power is supported.

Does it include a mount and warranty?

Yes. The supplied package includes a quick-detach Picatinny mount for the scope's 30mm tube. The LPR L6R carries a five-year manufacturer warranty, subject to RIX's warranty terms.
