Nocpix MICRO2 Helmet Setup: Mounts, Dual-Link and Power

Nocpix MICRO2 Helmet Setup: Mounts, Dual-Link and Power

Quick Answer: What Does a MICRO2 Helmet Setup Need?

A Nocpix MICRO2 helmet setup needs a compatible helmet or headgear, shroud, helmet mount, bridge or adapter, and optic attachment. The complete system must provide usable eye position, adjustment, balance, and access to power and controls. Choose H25 when lower weight and longer runtime matter. Compare Ultra when its wider field of view is the reason for the build.

The included rifle mount does not make either product a complete helmet system. Before ordering, decide whether you want a single thermal, two thermals, or a thermal paired with a separate night-vision device.

Someone scanning on foot may have different priorities from someone observing one area from a fixed position. Start with that use, then match the equipment around it.

Choose the MICRO2 Model Around Your Scanning Needs

The MICRO2 H25 has a 640x512 sensor, a 17.5° × 13.1° field of view, and a published optic weight of 11.2 ounces.

The MICRO2 Ultra S25 has a 1280x960 sensor, a wider 34.2° × 25.9° field of view, and a published optic weight of 12.9 ounces.

Ultra gives you more scene coverage. H25 has lower published device weight and longer battery runtime. Those weights describe the optic, not the complete helmet system.

If you are still choosing between them, read the MICRO2 H25 vs Ultra buying guide before selecting supporting components.

The Helmet Components to Match Before Ordering

Purchasing checklist for a MICRO2 helmet system
Component What to Confirm Why It Matters
Helmet or headgear Fit, shroud compatibility, and room for the complete setup The platform needs to support the system comfortably.
Helmet mount Shroud fit, adjustment range, and flip-up function The display must reach the required viewing position and move out of the way.
Bridge or adapter Exact interfaces and intended configuration A similar-looking attachment does not prove compatibility.
Optic attachment Approved MICRO2 interface, orientation, and required hardware Every connection in the mounting chain needs to match.
Eye position Viewing distance, vertical and lateral alignment, and eyewear clearance You should be able to view the image without forcing your head into position.
Balance and power Complete front load, balancing accessories, battery access, and any external power arrangement The complete system’s weight and usability matter more than optic weight alone.

Browse helmet mounts and accessories to understand the categories, then have the exact component models checked together. A collection listing is a starting point for comparison rather than a compatibility approval.

Our general helmet setup guide covers the broader platform choices.

What Comes With the MICRO2?

The manufacturer manual’s package list includes:

  • A 1.93-inch OEM rifle mount.
  • Two 18650 batteries and a battery charger.
  • A Bluetooth remote.
  • A USB-C cable and hard case.
  • An objective cap, removable eyeguard, lens cloth, and manual.
  • Mounting hardware, hex keys, and an objective lens lever.

One battery powers the optic at a time; the second is a spare. PICTAIL is optional and not included.

A helmet, helmet mount, bridge, and any role-specific adapters are separate unless your selected bundle explicitly includes them. Check the current package contents before purchasing additional hardware.

Helmet Mode Has Its Own Operating Behavior

The manual provides separate interfaces for standalone/handheld, helmet, and clip-on use. It describes H25 image scaling and position adjustment in helmet mode.

It also states that digital zoom is disabled in helmet and clip-on modes. The Ultra’s up-to-8x digital zoom and H25’s up-to-4x digital zoom apply to standalone/handheld operation.

That distinction matters when comparing product titles. A general “1x” label does not explain the viewed magnification and display scaling of every configuration. If a specific viewing scale is essential to your helmet setup, confirm the operating behavior before ordering.

Dual-Link and Thermal/Night-Vision Pairing Are Different

Dual-Link Coordinates Two MICRO2 Devices

Dual-Link supports paired MICRO2 helmet use. A primary device coordinates settings with a secondary device, including image and display settings.

It does not include a second optic, create a second image channel inside one monocular, or supply the supporting bridge. Confirm the intended device pair and firmware before selecting the remaining hardware.

Comfortable alignment still matters. Two connected devices do not automatically form a comfortable system simply because their settings synchronize.

NV Highlight and Outline Still Require Separate Night Vision

Full mode displays the thermal scene. Highlight emphasizes thermal targets without the normal background, while Outline displays target outlines. These choices are intended to make the thermal presentation more useful alongside separate night vision.

They do not add a digital night-vision sensor to the MICRO2.

If you want an integrated thermal and digital night-vision product, compare the separate Nocpix MINI2 H25 platform. MICRO2 and MINI2 are different product families with different specifications and accessory requirements.

Plan Battery Life Around the Features You Need

The published standard runtime figures are approximately 6.5 hours per battery for H25 and 4.5 hours for Ultra. Auto Power Saving extends the published figures to up to nine and six hours respectively.

Actual runtime depends on conditions and use. Auto Power Saving also has operating restrictions: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, the microphone, and recoil-activated video are disabled while it is active, and recording is unavailable until wake-up. Enabling those functions disables the saving mode.

If you plan to use linked operation, remote access, or recording, budget around the relevant operating conditions rather than assuming every feature remains active for the maximum advertised runtime.

What Does Flip Standby Do?

In helmet mode, Flip Standby places the optic into standby when raised and wakes it when returned to the viewing position. This is a separate convenience from the Auto Power Saving runtime claim.

Check its behavior with your actual mounting arrangement and follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the intended configuration.

Check the Complete System Before Calling It Finished

  1. Image access: Can you comfortably view the usable image with your normal eyewear?
  2. Adjustment: Is there sufficient vertical and lateral movement to position the optic correctly?
  3. Stability: Does the headgear support the complete load without forcing an uncomfortable position?
  4. Control access: Can you reach the controls and replace the battery without interfering with the rest of the system?
  5. Operating behavior: Do the recording, linked, and standby functions behave as expected together?

Resolve uncertain interfaces before buying the remaining parts. A mounting combination should be selected around verified fit rather than the assumption that similar product names mean interchangeable hardware.

When a Dedicated Helmet Thermal May Make More Sense

Both MICRO2 models offer more capability than helmet scanning alone. If you will never use clip-on or standalone sight functions, compare the weight, price, and simplicity of products in our helmet-mounted thermal collection.

If you already own an RH25 V2, the MICRO2 upgrade guide can help you decide whether the new functions solve a limitation in your current system.

Include all required components in the comparison. The most useful purchase is the system that fits your actual job, not automatically the one with the longest feature list.

MICRO2 Helmet Setup Frequently Asked Questions

Does either MICRO2 come as a complete helmet system?

The standard package list includes a rifle mount and accessories, not a complete helmet, mount, and bridge system. Only treat it as a complete helmet kit if the selected bundle explicitly lists those components.

Is PICTAIL included?

No. The manufacturer specifications identify PICTAIL as optional and not included.

Can I use the Ultra’s 8x digital zoom in helmet mode?

No. The manual disables digital zoom in helmet and clip-on modes for both MICRO2 models.

Does Dual-Link turn one optic into binoculars?

No. It coordinates settings between two MICRO2 devices. A second optic and compatible supporting hardware are separate requirements.

Do Highlight and Outline mean the MICRO2 includes night vision?

No. They change the thermal display. A thermal/night-vision pairing still requires a separate night-vision device.

Can I assume my RH25 V2 helmet hardware fits?

Have the exact part numbers and interfaces checked for MICRO2 compatibility. Product-family similarity does not establish fit.

Which model is lighter?

The manufacturer manual lists H25 at 11.2 ounces and Ultra at 12.9 ounces. Compare the complete system’s weight and balance as well as the published optic weights.
