Who this is for

Best for

Experienced thermal users who prioritize wide-area scanning and helmet-mounted observation. Its 1280x960 sensor and 34.2° horizontal field of view suit buyers who want broad scene coverage from one optic that also supports handheld, clip-on, and standalone sight use.

Not ideal for

Buyers prioritizing the lowest setup cost, lighter weight, or longer battery runtime over a wider viewing area. It also lacks a built-in laser rangefinder and requires a separate night-vision device for a thermal/night-vision pairing.

Full product description

Nocpix MICRO2 Ultra S25: 1280 Thermal With a 34.2° Field of View

The Nocpix MICRO2 Ultra S25 is a 4-in-1 thermal optic with a 1280 × 960 sensor, 25mm f/1.0 lens, and 34.2° × 25.9° field of view. Use it as a handheld scanner, helmet-mounted monocular, thermal clip-on, or standalone thermal sight with the correct configuration and mounting hardware.

The Ultra's strongest distinction is how much of the scene it displays. Its horizontal field of view is about 95% wider than the MICRO2 H25's 17.5° view. That makes it especially worth comparing for helmet scanning and wide-area observation, where seeing more of the surrounding terrain can reduce the amount of scanning needed.

Why Choose the MICRO2 Ultra?

  • Wide scene coverage: the 34.2° × 25.9° view provides substantially more angular coverage than the H25.
  • 1280 thermal sensor: 1,228,800 sensor pixels supply a large image canvas. Its 3.75× total pixel advantage over H25 is not a claim of 3.75× target detail.
  • Large AMOLED display: a 1.03-inch, 2560 × 2560 display presents the thermal image and interface.
  • 60 Hz refresh and ≤15 mK NETD: the published sensor specifications pair frequent image updates with sensitivity to small temperature differences.
  • Clip-on support up to 10×: use compatible daytime glass within the manufacturer's magnification limit.
  • Helmet features: Dual-Link, NV Highlight and Outline display modes, and Flip Standby support more specialized configurations.

Four Ways to Use the MICRO2 Ultra

Four uses from one thermal platform
Handheld scanner Scan without dedicating the optic to one rifle. In the shared standalone/handheld mode, the reticle can be hidden for observation.
Helmet-mounted monocular Use a compatible helmet mounting system for hands-free scanning. Fit, eye alignment, balance and the correct optic adapter matter.
Thermal clip-on Place the optic ahead of compatible daytime glass. The manufacturer supports day-scope settings up to 10×; use the correct mount and verify alignment.
Standalone thermal sight Use the device with its own reticle and a correctly fitted rifle mount. Confirm setup and zero according to the manual.

Built Around Helmet and Dual-Band Use

The Ultra's wide view is its main reason to move up from the H25. Dual-Link lets two MICRO2 devices coordinate settings for a binocular helmet configuration. NV Highlight and Outline simplify the thermal presentation when pairing the thermal with a separate night-vision device.

Those display modes do not add a built-in night-vision sensor. A dual-band setup still requires a separate night-vision device and compatible mounting hardware. Check alignment and comfort before choosing two optics for a helmet.

Compare helmet-mounted thermal optics, browse helmet mounts and accessories, or read the helmet setup guide before selecting the supporting components.

Clip-On Use With Day Scopes up to 10×

The MICRO2 Ultra supports day-scope magnification up to 10× in clip-on mode. Three clip-on zeroing profiles let you save calibration settings for different setups. Mount alignment and verification of each setup still matter; a saved profile does not guarantee zero after every change or remount.

The Ultra also offers up to 8× digital zoom in standalone/handheld mode. Digital zoom is disabled in helmet and clip-on modes; day-scope magnification is a separate adjustment. Compare thermal clip-on options if keeping your existing day optic is your primary goal.

Battery Life and Recording

The Ultra runs on one replaceable 18650 battery, with USB-C external power support. Published runtime is approximately 4.5 hours in standard use, or up to 6 hours with Auto Power Saving. Runtime depends on conditions and enabled functions.

It has 64 GB of storage, photo and video recording, a microphone, and recoil-activated video. Auto Power Saving trades access to some functions for longer runtime: the manual says it disables Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, the microphone, and recoil-activated video, and recording is unavailable until the device wakes. Plan around that if you want continuous recording, remote control, or linked operation.

Who Should Buy the Ultra?

Choose the Ultra when its wider view is useful enough to justify the extra cost and weight. It is a strong candidate for experienced buyers building a helmet system or wanting wide-area thermal observation from one multifunction device.

The H25 may be the more practical choice when a 17.5° view fits your use, a lighter optic matters, or longer published battery life is more useful than the Ultra's wider scene. For a single dedicated task, compare the relevant handheld, helmet or sight alternatives before paying for several operating roles.

MICRO2 Ultra Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Nocpix MICRO2 Ultra S25?

It is a 1280 × 960, 25mm multifunction thermal optic with handheld, helmet-mounted, clip-on, and standalone sight configurations. Its manufacturer SKU is MICRO2-ULTRA and its UPC is 850048751828.

Is MICRO2 Ultra S25 the same product as MICRO2-ULTRA?

Yes. The manufacturer SKU workbook lists the Ultra S25 product name under MICRO2-ULTRA. The manual and sell sheet use the shorter MICRO 2 ULTRA name.

How much wider is the Ultra view than the H25?

The Ultra is rated at 34.2° × 25.9°, compared with 17.5° × 13.1° for H25. That is about 95% greater horizontal angular coverage and nearly twice the vertical coverage.

Does the Ultra have four times the H25 sensor pixels?

It has 3.75 times the total pixels of the 640 × 512 H25. The 4× comparison applies to the older 640 × 480 RH25 V2. Neither ratio is a direct measure of identification distance or detail on the same animal.

Can it be used as a thermal clip-on?

Yes. Nocpix supports day-scope magnification up to 10× in clip-on mode. Confirm your scope, attachment and mounting height, then follow the manual to calibrate and verify the setup.

Does 8× digital zoom work in helmet mode?

No. The manual disables digital zoom in helmet and clip-on modes. The Ultra digital zoom function is available in standalone/handheld mode.

Does it include night vision or a laser rangefinder?

It has no built-in laser rangefinder. NV Highlight and Outline are thermal display modes for use with a separate night-vision device; they do not add integrated night vision.

How long does the Ultra battery last?

Published figures are approximately 4.5 hours in standard use and up to 6 hours with Auto Power Saving per 18650 battery. Some recording and wireless functions are unavailable while the saving mode is active.

What is included for mounting?

The manufacturer package list includes a 1.93-inch OEM rifle mount. PICTAIL is optional and not included. A complete helmet mounting system requires separate compatible components unless expressly included in your chosen bundle.

Is the 1,375-yard detection rating an identification distance?

No. The published detection rating is not a guarantee that you can identify an animal at that distance. Subject size, conditions, viewing settings and the detail visible in the scene determine practical identification.

Is the MICRO2 Ultra the same as the MINI2 H25?

No. MICRO2 and MINI2 are separate families. Use the complete model name and SKU to compare features and accessories.

What warranty is listed?

The manual lists a five-year manufacturer warranty, subject to its terms. Thermal Bros can help you find registration, support and RMA information.
