Quick answer
Digital day and night vision scope reaching 20x magnification for longer sight lines. Sony STARVIS 2 sensor, detachable IR illuminator, 10-hour runtime, IP67 rated.
Who this is for
Best for
Hunters shooting across open fields, pasture, and long lanes where reach matters more than a wide frame; coyote and hog work at distance where identifying what stands at the far end takes magnification; deliberate shots at known, stationary targets
Not ideal for
Hunters who scan a lot of ground, work in close cover, or follow moving targets — the wider 3-12x ZHD312-V2 fits better — or anyone who wants distance readings and holdover correction, which the ZHD520R-V2 adds

Full product description
The DNT ZULUS ZHD520-V2 is the longer-reaching of DNT's two digital day-and-night scopes, running 5x through 20x against the 3-12x ZHD312-V2. A Sony STARVIS 2 sensor behind ED glass keeps the image usable from midday through full dark, and a detachable IR illuminator handles the hours with no light at all. One zero covers the whole day.
Five to twenty times magnification puts the ZHD520-V2 at the long end of the ZULUS V2 range
Magnification on the ZHD520-V2 runs 5x through 20x, against 3x through 12x on the ZHD312-V2. Starting at 5x means the sight picture opens already magnified, which suits shooters whose targets sit further out than they can comfortably judge at lower power. A throw lever changes magnification with gloves on, replacing the wheel DNT used on the previous generation.
A 4.91-degree frame trades width for precision on the ZHD520-V2
Field of view on the ZHD520-V2 measures 4.91 by 2.76 degrees, roughly half the width of the 7.97 by 4.49 degrees on the 3-12x model. Less ground in frame is the direct cost of more magnification, and it is a fair trade for deliberate shooting where the target is known and stationary. Fast scanning and following moving targets are harder through a narrow frame, which is the honest limitation of this model.
The DNT ZULUS ZHD520-V2 covers daylight and full dark on one zero
Night optics usually come off the rifle at sunrise. This one does not. A Sony STARVIS 2 CMOS sensor and ED glass lenses produce a usable daylight image, hold through dawn and dusk, and hand off to digital night vision when the light runs out. That day-into-dark range is the practical difference between a digital scope like this and a thermal optic, which reads heat and looks the same at any hour.
Detail at 20x rests on the STARVIS 2 sensor and 60 Hz display in the ZHD520-V2
A Sony STARVIS 2 CMOS sensor gathers the light and a 1920 by 1080 Micro-OLED display shows it at 60 Hz. Magnification on this scope is digital, so the top of the zoom range asks the most of both the sensor and the display — the same reason image quality at 20x matters more here than on the 3-12x model. Peak brightness reaches 1,800 nits across five levels, keeping the screen readable in direct sun.
Swapping the ZHD520-V2 illuminator from 850 nm to 940 nm trades reach for discretion
A detachable 850 nm IR illuminator ships with the ZHD520-V2 and supplies the light digital night vision needs in full dark. Swapping in a 940 nm unit produces a beam that is far harder to detect, at the cost of some effective range. Both mount and dismount without tools, so the choice can change between properties or between nights.
Every shot through the ZHD520-V2 can record itself
Auto RAV captures ten seconds either side of each shot with no button pressed at all. Manual RAV does the same on a long press, adding ten seconds per tap up to two minutes. A short press starts loop recording in clips of up to five minutes. Sound comes from a noise-reducing microphone, footage saves at 1800 by 1080, and 32 GB of built-in storage holds it without a memory card.
One 21700 cell powers the ZHD520-V2 for a 10-hour night
DNT moved the V2 generation from an 18650 cell to a higher-capacity 21700, and runtime reaches up to 10 hours as a result. Two batteries and a charger ship in the box. A 5V USB-C port takes an external bank for stationary sits that run past even that.
Diopter adjustment and 65 mm eye relief set the ZHD520-V2 up for the shooter
Eye relief of 65 mm keeps the eyepiece back at a safe distance under recoil and allows a relaxed posture over a long sit. A diopter adjustment of plus or minus 3 dioptres brings the display into sharp focus for the individual eye. The scope measures 6.4 by 2.9 by 2.0 inches and weighs 17.0 oz, slightly longer than the 3-12x model to accommodate the higher magnification range.
Long sight lines and deliberate shots suit the ZHD520-V2
Hunters shooting across open fields, pasture, and long lanes are the core fit for the ZHD520-V2, where 20x reach matters more than a wide frame. Coyote and hog work at distance benefits from the extra magnification when identifying what is standing at the far end. Hunters who scan a lot of ground, work in close cover, or follow moving targets should take the wider 3-12x ZHD312-V2 instead, and anyone who wants distance readings and holdover correction should look at the ZHD520R-V2.
FAQ
What is the difference between the DNT ZULUS ZHD520-V2 and the ZHD312-V2?
Magnification and field of view. The ZHD520-V2 runs 5x to 20x with a 4.91 by 2.76 degree frame for longer distances. The ZHD312-V2 runs 3x to 12x with a wider 7.97 by 4.49 degree frame for scanning. Sensor, display, battery, and recording are identical.
Is the magnification on the ZHD520-V2 optical or digital?
Digital. The ZHD520-V2 magnifies from 5x to 20x digitally against a 1920 by 1080 sensor and display. Image quality is at its best lower in the zoom range, as it is on any digital scope.
Can the ZHD520-V2 be used during the day?
Yes. The ZHD520-V2 is a day and night scope. A Sony STARVIS 2 sensor and ED glass produce a usable daylight image, and the digital night vision engine with IR illuminator takes over after dark. One zero covers both.
Does the ZHD520-V2 have a rangefinder?
No. The ZHD520-V2 has no laser rangefinder. The ZHD520R-V2 shares the same 5-20x magnification and adds an integrated rangefinder with a ballistic calculator.
What comes in the box with the ZHD520-V2?
The ZHD520-V2 ships with a PMS mount, a detachable 850 nm IR illuminator, an eye cup, a flip-up lens cover, two 21700 flat-top batteries, a charger, two USB cables, a user manual, a quick start guide, and a lens cleaning cloth.
