Full product description
Lightweight Gen 2+ Night Vision in a Compact, Helmet-Mountable Package
The RIX Tactical RNV-14 is a single-tube night vision monocular built around a standard 18mm image intensifier tube, delivering Gen 2+ low-light performance in one of the lightest helmet-mounted night vision devices available. At just 255 grams (approximately 9 ounces), the RNV-14 is designed for hunters, sport shooters, ranch operators, and tactical professionals who want night vision capability in a compact, portable form factor.
Powered by a single AA battery and rated for up to 55 hours per battery, the RNV-14 is built for long sessions in the field without constantly swapping cells. The included full-metal J-arm bracket attaches the RNV-14 to standard NVG dovetail mounts, making integration into existing helmet setups immediate and tool-free.
Thermal Fusion Ready
The RNV-14 ships with the Thermal Fusion Pendant Adapter included in the box. This adapter mounts to the bottom of the objective lens via two M2 × 5 screws and accepts a compatible thermal clip-on, enabling true fusion imaging where thermal heat signatures are overlaid onto the native night vision view. For users who plan to grow their night vision setup over time, the RNV-14 is built to scale with you.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does FOM mean and which should I choose?
FOM (Figure of Merit) is the industry standard for measuring tube performance. Higher FOM means a cleaner image with less noise, especially in extreme low-light conditions. The 1400-1600 FOM tubes provide solid Gen 2+ performance at the most accessible price point. The 1800-2000 FOM tubes deliver near-milspec image clarity for users who want the best image quality the housing can support.
White phosphor or green phosphor?
Green phosphor is the classic night vision look. The human eye distinguishes more shades of green than any other color, which is why green tubes have been the standard for decades. White phosphor displays the image in shades of black, white, and gray, which many users find easier on the eyes during extended wear and better for distinguishing fine detail. Neither is universally better.
How long does one AA battery last?
Up to 55 hours of operating time, with auto standby mode further extending real-world use.
Is the J-arm included?
Yes. The included full-metal J-arm bracket allows the RNV-14 to mount on standard NVG dovetail mounts and to be switched between left and right eye placement.
What helmet mounts are compatible?
Standard NVG dovetail mounts. Most modern helmet mount systems with a dovetail interface will accept the included J-arm.
Can the RNV-14 be paired with a thermal clip-on?
Yes. The included Thermal Fusion Pendant Adapter mounts to the objective lens and provides the interface for a compatible thermal clip-on, enabling fusion imaging.
Can I use this for hog hunting?
Yes. The RNV-14 is widely used for hog hunting, especially in setups where a thermal device handles initial detection and the night vision monocular is used for visual confirmation and passive aiming.
Is the RNV-14 waterproof?
The RNV-14 is rated for ingress protection to 10 meters, suitable for rain, splashes, and brief immersion.
Is the RNV-14 ITAR-restricted?
Yes. The RNV-14 is an ITAR-controlled item under U.S. federal export law. Sales are restricted to U.S. persons as defined under 22 CFR § 120.15. Export outside the United States is prohibited without proper licensing.
